Swallownest Bethesda F.C. was established in 1998 as a founder member of the Sheffield & District Fair Play League (SDFPL). The club were runners-up in the first full league season; winning the League title for the first time in 2000. The club retained the league title for 4 consecutive years (2000 – 2003) and won the cup for five consecutive years (2001 – 2005), winning the double for three years between 2001 and 2003. The team won back the league title for a fourth league and cup double in 2005, after finishing as league runner up in 2004. 2006 saw Swallownest finish as runner up in both the league and cup, losing a close-fought cup final to Kings Centre after extra time. In 2007 the club again won back the league title, for the sixth and final time. The club were league and cup runners up for three consecutive years from 2008 – 2010. In 2008, Dave Roscamp retired as club manager after 10 years in the top job. Dave remains the most successful manager in the SDFPL, winning 6 league titles with 4 runners up medals; and 5 cup titles with 2 runners up medals. Under Dave’s reign the club never finished outside the top 2 in the league; a feat which continued for two further years after his departure.
In 2000, Bethesda United Churches F.C. was established as a second Swallownest team based at Bethesda. 2003 season saw Bethesda United Churches finishing runners up in division 2 – the team being promoted to the top flight. The following year the side won the first division fair play award, before moving away from Swallownest and establishing Brathwell Unity, as a separate entity.
In 2006 Swallownest Bethesda Youth was set up by Danny Taylor as a second team at the Club. The team joined the SDFPL in 2007, finishing as division 2 runner up in 2010 and being runner up in the division 2 play-off final that year, losing 4-0 to AC Southside at Penistone Church FC.
In the 2011-2012 season Swallownest Bethesda’s two teams merged back into one, playing in the third division. The club won promotion to the second division that season. In 2015 the club again added a second team, with Swallownest Bethesda B joining division 4 of the SDFPL.
